    Try this new curriculum Civil War Curriculum from the California H-SS Project.  It is the first in a series of innovative curricula developed by the History Blueprint Team at CHSSP.  It combines historical investigation, carefully selected primary sources, activities to strengthen reading and writing, and practice evaluating arguments based on historical evidence.  This comprehensive unit includes: background materials, detailed lesson plans, assessments, and  visual resources.It is aligned with both the CA H-SS Standards and the Literacy in H-SS of the Common Core Standards of English Language Arts.     The History in a Flag product is officially released now and is great for CONSTITUTION DAY, 4th OF JULY, Teaching history, and even for selling as a fundraiser for your school.  The flag is available in three sizes including - the sticker size for students to use at their desk, a teacher size for teachers to build in the front of the classroom and a SCHOOL SIZE where a replica of the flag can be built in the hallways of the school for all to enjoy throughout the year.See

    Attached is March-April IECSS Newsletter with the latest in H-SS. Please note the two opportunities for travel fellowships:  Middle and High School Teachers who attend the April 14 workshop at U of Redlands have the opportunity to be selected to travel this summer in Turkey. Fifth grade teachers have the opportunity to be selected for the cohort from Riverside-San Bernardino Counties to travel to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown for a week-long immersion in history.
