Teaching Third Grade Local Community History
June 27-30, 2016

  • Learn about the history of Los Angeles and Southern California, as well as how to teach local community history within the larger historical context of California and U.S. history.
  • Expert teacher leaders from the History Project will demonstrate inquiry-based lessons and activities designed to develop knowledge and skills in history-social science as well as language and literacy aligned to the new CCSS/ELD standards
  • Participants will explore the amazing collection of resources of the Library of Congress and learn how to use primary sources in the classroom to develop knowledge and skills.
  • The workshop is provided at no cost to the participating teachers and two semester units of continuing education units will be available for a $100 fee (register for credit during the institute).

Location: CSU Dominguez Hills        
Dates and Times: June 27-30, 2016 from 8:30am - 2:30pm
